Gaggenau presented ‘The Elevation of Gravity’ within Villa Necchi's glass pavilion highlighting existing Gaggenau products whilst providing a first look at future designs including the new Ridgeline surface, specially created by Schotten & Hansen. With a unique textured layer, the Ridgeline is a wooden surface that has been inspired by the ridgeline of the Alps between Bavaria and Italy and uses a special technique to create a three-dimensional surface.
Gaggenau’s immersive architectural installation at Villa Necchi offered visitors the chance to experience the brand in a unique way alongside the opportunity to meet Gaggenau and Schotten & Hansen design, brand and product teams, and other global thought leaders from the architecture and design community. The week-long showcase included dynamic discussions, interactive sessions, social events and workshops, offering visitors to Salone del Mobile a place in the heart of Milan where they could network, engage, and relax.
Torben Hansen, Founder, Schotten & Hansen says: “We’ve worked with Gaggenau for the past seven years and have long respected their shared dedication to fine craftsmanship and innovation. We were excited when Hendrik Müller of 1zu33 presented the idea of creating a special new surface for Gaggenau’s installation during Salone, and it is an honour to be presenting with Gaggenau in our 40th anniversary year.”
Schotten & Hansen and Gaggenau have a longstanding partnership, and Schotten & Hansen surfaces can be seen in 14 Gaggenau showrooms around the world including Miami, Oslo, Toronto and Sydney. Designed by architect partners 1zu33, many Gaggenau showrooms include Schotten & Hansen’s exquisite floors and veneers, which serve as the ideal foundation to showcase Gaggenau’s premium kitchen appliances. The showrooms seamlessly mirror the appliances’ purist, linear aesthetics, and the expansive Schotten & Hansen oak floorboards, artfully arranged in the timeless herringbone pattern, consistently provide an ideal backdrop for this synergy of design.
When it comes to wall design, Schotten & Hansen has crafted a unique Gaggenau brand colour on Douglas fir veneer. This involves the meticulous infusion of the finest pigments into the wood, creating a distinctive and appealing finish.
Schotten & Hansen’s approach reveres the natural material and employs resource-efficient practices. Through traditional craftsmanship and the use of natural ingredients, they achieve diffusion-open wood surfaces that engage the senses and contribute to indoor climate regulation.
